All Thumbs

Over the generations, knitters have come up with any number of ways to knit thumb openings into mittens. Most thumbs, however, fall into one of two categories.

A peasant thumb opening is just a horizontal slit in the mitten's hand. It's quite easy to work. A gusseted thumb opening features a triangular gusset at the base of the thumb. It results in a more comfortable mitten.

In this class, you'll practice both types of thumbs by knitting a two-thumb sampler.

And you'll learn to design your own mittens.
