Clear, concise, complete, consistent, and correct: good technical
writing needs all of these attributes.
No doubt every designer runs into the same problem: by the time you
finish writing a pattern, you're so ready to move onto something
else that the idea of carefully proofreading the pattern has no appeal
at all.
That's where I can help. If you publish knitting patterns or articles
about knitting, I can assist you by:
-
Developing charts from written instructions, or vice versa.
-
Verifying that charts and accompanying written instructions match.
-
Verifying that stitch counts add up as they should.
-
Drawing schematics, diagrams, or other illustrations, in a wide
variety of formats, including Illustrator, EPS, PDF, GIF, and JPEG.
-
Suggesting alternate wording, where needed for clarity.
-
Formatting to suit a particular publication style.
-
Checking for typos and misspellings.
-
Editing digital photos.
