Desert Sunset Twinset

Color doesn't have to be hard; stripes don't have to be boring. Proof comes in the form of this twinset's short-sleeve cardigan.

The cardigan's fronts use a variety of stitch patterns, but all are quite simple. Purl stitches and the occasional yo/k2tog combination add texture. Slip stitches--sometimes made with the yarn held to the wrong side, and sometimes with the yarn held to the right side--give the impression of color stranding, yet only one color is used on any given row.

For contrast, the underlying shell is worked in smooth stockinette. Subtle darts add waist shaping.
