Diamonds and Checks Mittens

Dale of Norway Tiur, with its part-wool, part-mohair content, gives these mittens a soft, warm, halo.

Positioning the thumb a bit away from the edge of the mitten allows for a comfortable fit. But it would be just as easy to knit ambidextrous mittens, with thumbs positioned right at the side "seam."
